Debt Advice

We provide advice to help with any debts that you may have incurred to help relieve the pressure from creditors.

Debt is understandably a worrying period for individuals and corporations who have incurred this. Our aim is to ease the stress of debt and be of use to you by discussing your situation with us to enable us to provide you with the best advice and support. If a negotiated settlement is not possible, we would also suggest any other exit routes available for you such as Individual Voluntary Arrangements or Company Voluntary Arrangements and any other insolvency processes which are possible. We advise creditors and debtors on all debt related issues to include debt collection services and negotiating settlement terms in favour of debtors.

If you are experiencing financial difficulties and pressure from creditors’ we are always available to guide you throughout to manage your finances. In that case, please do not hesitate to contact us for legal advice.

Taking the next steps…

It is of high importance that you do not ignore the debt(s), as it is highly likely to get worse if left too late. Additionally, try to avoid borrowing more money as this will magnify your issues. We would have a meeting with you either remotely or in person and give you an appropriate advice on the way forward. We will assess your financial position to include an analysis of your assets and liabilities.

If appropriate, we would contact the other party with a view to making proposals to settle the matter without the need of any court proceedings. If this is not possible, we would advise the client of how best to deal with the stressful situation and provide various alternative methods, such as making final offers or entering into a particular insolvency process.

Relief on payments

There are some ways to get some relief on certain payments such as Mortgages/Credit Card Debts. You may be able to obtain payment holidays on mortgages by speaking to your lender. The Lender may provide further help if you are struggling to keep up repayments by agreement to spread the payments over a longer period of time;

Here at DBP Law, we understand that sometimes people and companies struggle financially due to the reduction/loss of income/profits. For that matter, as we specialise in debt, we can provide you with the best advice possible that will assist you with the debt you may have.

Other options

If a negotiated settlement cannot be reached, we will guide the client throughout and recommend other professionals such as, insolvency practitioners to help them with the way forward and as a last resort, go through the court insolvency process if necessary.

There are also other advisors who may be approached for advice which we will suggest in the event that the client cannot afford legal costs. These include, voluntary organisations such as the Citizens Advisors Bureaux, Step Change Debt Charity, Debt Advice Foundation National Debt Line and PayPlan.
